And what an incredible, insane, messy, achy, beautiful, crazy title that is.
(Did I mention the high that lasts for hours after the birth? Minus the childbirth pains?)
I think I may become an addict.
In related news, only one more year until I can add "master." Which begs the question, will people call me "master doula" or "doula master?"
Good thing I have a year to work out the details.

I'll call you 'Master Doula'! You were great! Definitely worthy of the title.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you are aware of this but doula is an Ancient Greek term which actually means "female slave." SO... with that in mind, you are more than welcome to come in September and be my doula :) In every sense of the word! -Ambs
ReplyDeleteWay to beat Ben to the MD!
ReplyDeleteBirths are more than a little addicting, but midwifery is oodles more fun than doula work. I know a few different midwives in the area if you decide you're interested being an assistant and getting that birth high regularly some day.
You're way too kind, Mike, and YOU were great!
ReplyDeleteAmbs--Yes. And that is why you need to move out HERE. I've been waiting for four long years.
And, Ginger, I've considered midwifery multiple times, but it always comes down to the fact that I'm better at math and econ, so it's better for me to lobby for change (and do research to support change) than be a midwife. We should definitely talk, though.
VERY cool. congrats! (do you know pamy? if not, you should.)
ReplyDelete(I've heard stories of Pamy but never actually met her, which is something that we really should change.)
